The Great Shehan Spelling Bee
The 17th Annual Great Shehan Spelling Bee took place on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn. Eight teams participated in the Bee this year raising over $10,000 for the After School and Saturday Program! At the end of the competition, it was Tauck World Discovery who took home first place in both their spelling and their cheerleading group! A "big thanks" to all the companies that have supported us throughout the years.
In this age of computer technology it is not often that adults are asked to test their spelling skills, however, that is why we have the Great Shehan Spelling Bee!! The Spelling Bee takes place on the last Tuesday in February at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn. A competition for companies, the Bee is a great opportunity for employers to treat their employees to an evening of dinner and fun while helping to raise funds for our various programs. Radio personality John Harper is the Bee Mascot, and Tim "Ace" Holleran is the Bee Master.
Over 200 people attend this event. Companies can choose to enter a team of three spellers in the event for $600 plus $50 per person for cheerleaders. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place and lunch for the best cheerleaders.
The 2012 Spelling Bee will be held on Tuesday, February 28th at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn beginning at 5:30 P.M. For more information on registering or becoming a sponsor for this event, please contact Lorraine at 336-4468 or email her here.
Sponsors
Sponsorship opportunities are available from $1,000 to $5,000. Sponsors receive a company banner prominently displayed at the event, an opportunity to distribute literature or promotional items at each table setting, and their company logo on all event programs and the Spelling Bee T-shirts.
